Hi! My name is Mark Bradbury and I'm a singing teacher, based in Horsham, offering voice coaching and singing lessons online and in person for children and adults from my bespoke garden studio. I trained classically as a tenor at the Royal Academy of Music, worked in professional opera for some years, studied for Estill levels 1&2 and I am a certified Vocal Health First Aider. I've a host of performing experience in everything from classical song to contemporary musical theatre and I bring a blend of knowledge of up to date voice science with tried and tested teaching methods. I'd love to help you find your voice whether you are 8 or 80 years old!

Professional Singer

I studied classical voice at the Royal Academy of Music before graduating to a career on the concert and operatic stage, singing regularly in the Glyndebourne Festival, at The Proms and as a founder member of European Voices along with other professional choir in Paris, Berlin, Salzburg and New York. I love to belt out a Musical Theatre number, as much as a classical aria and I even featured on some multi-platinum selling pop albums. You can ask me all about that!

Choir director/ Workshop leader

I am the director of many choir, including the West Sussex Youth Choir. Having led workshops for Glyndebourne education and children's music workshop, I developed the annual Build an Opera summer school in Horsham in 2014. As a founding partner of SongBuilders, I've developed and conducted large scale performances and smaller workshops along with corporate team building events. I love leading my Big Notes Choir and West sussex Junior Voices and I continue to be the co-director of the international early years education program Little Notes.

Singing Teacher

Just as at home in classical repertoire or the world of music theatre, I have been teaching singing for many years, having held teaching posts on the Musical Theatre course at The University of Hertforshire, at the Hertforshire Music Centre and in my own private practice. I currently teach at Cottesmore School and The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham. Are you singing just for fun or wanting to explore graded exams? I believe that every singer needs a unique and creative approach as they expand the repertoire they sing and develop their vocal technique.

Mark has a vast knowledge and endless patience. He has been teaching my 9 year old daughter and she has really benefitted from his calm, friendly and supportive approach. What a great teacher!

In the studio

Most of my private teaching takes place in a bespoke garden studio. It's heated with plenty of space to focus on developing your technique, a sofa area for parents of younger children to wait and a great distraction free work space.

The room where it happens?

The majority of lessons take place in my home studio, but it is an option to have lessons online over Zoom and occasionally in your own home.

Young or old or somewhere in between?

I have students from primary school through to retirees and truly believe it's never too early or too late to enjoy the huge health benefits that singing has to offer. So whether you are 8 or 80, now is the time to find a new song.

Why work with a qualified VH First Aider?

As a certified Vocal Health First Aider I am aware of some of the main factors that lead to voice problems and with a fundamental knowledge of how the voice works when healthy I can implement strategies that can minimise or prevent the development of vocal health issues. With an understanding of the physical and emotional demands upon a performer, I can identify the symptoms of voice problems and where necessary provide immediate help until specialist treatment is accessed. I am also a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing.

I can thoroughly recommend Mark for singing tuition. Mark has a very reassuring manner to put the most nervous of singers at ease but clearly has a huge amount of knowledge and experience which he shares easily. He has a great attention to detail, and is encouraging whilst asking the student to step outside their comfort zone. I have learnt more from Mark in 6 weeks of lessons than during a lifetime of singing.
